KARACHI: Pakistan’s Designated Ambassador to the Philippines Dr. Aman Rashid visited Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry(FPCCI) on Wednesday 6th September 2017 to meet the directors and members of Pak Philippines Business Council FPCCI. The meeting was very well attended by the business community. It was presided by the President FPCCI Mr. Zubair Tufail. In his Welcome speech he admitted that in the past nothing was done much in the promotion of bilateral trade and highlighted the importance of the Philippines as a new market for Pakistan. Tufail said that under the new economic world order now the role of the Diplomats has been expanded as economic diplomat and they are also expected to work for the promotion of bilateral trade. He hoped that during Dr. Aman’s tenure as Ambassador to the Philippines Pakistan’s export to the Philippines will also be increased.
Chairman PPBC Asim Suleman, Vice Chairman PPBC Farooq Afzal, Dr. Imran Yousuf, Honorary Consul General of the Philippines in Karachi and renowned businessman Kaleem Farooqi also spoke at the occasion.
Farooq Afzal Vice Chairman PPBC told about the potential of the Philippines in details and requested the business community to explore the opportunities lying in the Philippines in the area of Pharmaceuticals, Agricultural products, Surgical and Medical equipments, Halal Foods and textiles. He also proposed for a single county exhibition and to form a working group between FPCCI and the Philippines Chamber of Commerce & Industry to identify more areas for creating business ties.
In his speech, Designated Ambassador Dr. Aman Rashid told that he is really impressed to see the huge presence of the businessmen at the meeting which shows their interest to work in the Philippines. He said that he will always be available to all the businessmen there and will do his best to help and support for any query. He said that he would welcome a trade delegation from Pakistan for which he will start working on it after his arrival at the Philippines. He said that he would welcome suggestions and proposal from the business community of the Pakistan for the promotion of bilateral trade.
The meeting was attended by the Swiss Consul General Mr. Philippe, Swiss Commercial Consular Mr. Jordan, Vice Presidents of the FPCCI Isthiaq Baig, Fayaz Magoon and Irfan Sarawana, Former VP FPCCI Shakeel Dhingra, Dr. Qaiser Waheed, Aslam Pakhali, Naim Farooqi, Zubair Farooqi, Shahid Jafri, Capt. Kamal Mehmoodi and number of businessmen.
