DUBAI: Four teams have been selected as winners in the second cohort of the Intelak Incubator, founded by the Emirates Group, GE, and Etisalat Digital. The winning teams will receive AED 50,000 and access to a 9-week accelerator programme.
Team LiFi Tech, Team Smart Zone, Team Airborne and Team Deliver2mum submitted creative ideas which aim to enhance the passenger travel experience in the air and on the ground. Team LiFi Tech proposed a solution for speeding up Wi-Fi on board and in the airport through using LEDs. Team Smart Zone created an automated runway debris scanning bot. Team Airborne developed an airport assistance mobile application which helps travellers navigate the airport. Team Deliver2mum created a solution which gives families who book a short stay with Emirates Holidays the option of renting strollers, car seats, and/or carriers for their children to make their stay more convenient.
In addition, two teams were selected as mentee teams. These teams will only go through the accelerator programme. Both were part of the Intelak Idea Lab, a three-week training programme focused on giving entrepreneurial-minded Emirati youth the tools they need to turn ideas into businesses. Team LiFi Tech, one of the winners of Intelak, also participated in the Intelak Idea Lab.
The Intelak Idea Lab was launched for the first time in September 2017, the result of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Intelak and Dubai SME, the agency of Dubai Economy mandated to develop the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector. The training programme was exclusively for UAE Nationals ages 17-25 to learn how to transform the business idea into a reality.
The Intelak Incubator, founded by the Emirates Group, GE, and Etisalat Digital in September 2016, gives innovators, entrepreneurs, and students from across the UAE the opportunity to submit their business concepts, and receive capital funding and incubator support. With the announcement of these winners, the second cohort of Intelak has officially commenced.
Submissions are now open for cohort three until 6 January 2018 on www.intelak.com. News Desk
