KARACHI: Members of the United Business Group (UBG) from Balochistan have announced their decision to join the Businessmen Panel (BMP) and its alliance partner, Pakistan Business Group (PBG).
In a press conference on Wednesday at the Karachi Press Club, the group leaders of Balochistan Ghulam Farooq and the vice president of the FPCCI, Wali Muhammad said they were joining the groups on merit.
The business community of Balochistan was fed up due to a lacklustre polices of the UBG.
The leaders of the UBG failed to address the genuine problems of Balochistan’s business community during the past three years, they said.
Though Balochistan has received much importance after CPEC, the president of the FPCCI and other its leaders “didn’t work and utilize their efforts to put us in the mainstream.”
They said the leaderships of the BMP and PBG “worked day and night for the business community of this country and Balochistan.”
Ghulam Farooq said Senator Haji Ghulam Ali is an ideal presidential candidate for the FPCCI, because he has rich experience and knowhow, which is why he should plead the case of the business community with the government.
He said that recently a regulatory duty was imposed but the FPCCI stayed silent. The FPCCI and the UBG didn’t take interest in Balochistan. “Every year they took votes from us with false and fake promises, but now we are not going to play into their hands.”
A leader of the UBG, former MNA Haji Naseemur Rehman from the Mardan Chamber of Commerce, together with his members are also announced that they were joining BMP and expressed unconditional support for Haji Ghulam Ali and other candidates.
He said the leadership of the UBG has a dictatorial mindset. Every year they choose whoever they want. Though they claim to be democratic, they actually are dictators.
He said the UBG chose a candidate who owns a cinema in Peshawar as its presidential candidate although he does not have much experience. How can such person plead businessmen’s case with the government as president of the FPCCI?
The chairman of the BMP, Mian Anjum Nisar, PBG chairman Mehtab Chawla, Mian Zahid Hussain, presidential candidate Senator Ghulam Ali, candidate for SVP Naseer Hayat Magoo, Abrar Ahmed, former president of the FPCCI, Zakria Usman, Abdul Rahim Janoo and Hina Mansab Khan were among those who attended the press conference.
