KARACHI: Martin Dow Group hosted the Pakistan Pavilion with the Pathfinder Group, in Davos, Switzerland late last week. Martin Dow and Pathfinder Group have been the organizers of the Pakistan breakfast at this forum since many years.

This year, along with SACC, Pathfinder Group and Martin Dow Group took the initiative of establishing a representative Pakistan Pavilion. In this walk-in-Pavilion, Pakistani entrepreneurs/officials in IT media, Financial Services (including microfinance and financial inclusion) and philanthropy were available to interact with international investors, experts and officials.

The Forum which concluded on Friday saw the participation of our Prime Minister, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in a session at the 48 Annual Meeting. The World Economic Forum (WEF) was centered on the theme of “Creating a shared future in a fractured world” and aimed to tie together some of the organization’s previous themes and ongoing topics of discussion, including the Fourth Industrial Revolution, climate change and tackling the productivity crisis in labor markets.

Jawed Akhai, Chairman Martin Dow Group speaking at the breakfast session commented: “This platform is very important to present the narrative of Pakistan. Earlier this week Dr. Ishrat gave a speech at a dinner held here which was attended by representatives from across the world. Speakers at this session spoke about the Pakistani perspective and this is what is important; that we put across our point of view.”

Mr. Akhai was delighted that the Aman Foundation participated in the Pakistan Pavilion and recognised the contributions of Aman for being nominated as the sole philanthropy partner due to its award winning critical care life-saving ambulance service, Aman Ambulance, and advanced vocational training, Aman Tech, in Pakistan.

Sharing his company’s reason for participating in the breakfast this year Mr. Akhai mentioned how he has been personally visiting Davos for the past 10-12 years and having seen that Ikram Sehgal has been the sole warrior fighting for the cause of Pakistan at the World Economic Forum he offered to join hands in organizing this event. The Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi made a 30 minute speech on this platform where he spoke about the present economic and security situation and pressured on the need to create a shared future.
