KARACHI: Arts Council of Pakistan is organising 10th Annual Youth Festival which will take place during 17th to 24th February, 2018. Competitions will take place among 50 thousand participants in 12 different categories.

The winners of each category will be awarded rupees one hundred thousand as price money. If the registration would not have been stopped at 50 thousand, then the participants would have crossed 2 hundred thousand marks, it would have been really difficult to manage.

These were the remarks of President of Arts Council, Ahmed Shah in the press conference which he conducted with Treasurer Shehnaz Siddique and Chairman Youth Committee Asjad Bukhari. He said that the Arts Council has been arranging Youth Festival since past 10 years and arts council has the honor of providing a platform to the youth to showcase their talent.

The Youth Festival is unique this year because, since past 6 months Arts Council has trained more than 17 thousand 500 students and around 50 thousand participants have registered for the festival after observing the desperation of the youth the registration was closed on 50 thousand because more than that could not be facilitated in 12 different categories.

The competition will be conducted among these categories and our trained 17 thousand 500 participants will also be included in the competition. The categories include: Urdu, English and Sindhi Declamation, Essay writing, Dance, Music, Theater, Painting, Photography, Quiz and short films. On this occasion special workshops will also be arranged in the above mentioned fields.

Ahmed Shah said that in whole world Arts and Culture are taught as a subject but we lack in proper education of this field. Arts Council provided proper education of these subjects and after studying from here, many youngsters are offering their services in different fields.

The main aim of Arts Council is to promote arts and culture. However, we think that, we cannot turn indifferent from the needs of our society and because there is no institute to provide education for Arts, Culture and Music, therefore, Arts Council is also fulfilling this responsibility.

If one reads different forms of Arts or works with literary people then he or she connects to the society. As the society is changing day by day, it has affected our youth the most. If we will not change their mindset then we will have to face a collective loss. If we want to fight terrorism and promote peace and tolerance then we will have to promote Art and Culture.

The registered participants will be auditioned in the first round. After that, final round will be conducted the festival will be opened on 17th February, on the other hand, the closing ceremony will be conducted on 24thceremony. Our country’s famous singers will be performing in the festival which includes Nabeel Shaukat Ali, Asim Azhar and Hamza Akram Qawal. News Desk
