KARACHI: To celebrate the international week of French language and of French speakers the Alliance française de Karachi, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Switzerland and the Consulate General of France, organized “Soirée Francophone Franco-Suisse” on March 21.
Mr. Philippe CREVOISIER – Swiss Consul General and Mr. Didier TALPAIN – French Consul General in their addresses highlighted the importance of French language and its significance for French speakers all over the world and in both countries.
Highlight of the evening was screening of “Ma vie de Courgette” (My Life as a Zucchini), in French with English subtitles. Ma vie de Courgetteis a charming Swiss- French stop motion film that was nominated for an Oscar last year. The movie is about a young boy, who after losing his mother, is sent to a foster home with other orphans his age where he begins to learn the meaning of trust and love.
At the end of the event, Mr. Gilles PASCAL – Director of the Alliance française thanked the audience, present among which were other diplomats, leading businessmen, representatives of media and students.
To mark “Goût de France” (Good France), which is a worldwide celebration of French gastronomy, an exclusive dinner was also arranged the same evening at Côte Rôtie restaurant at the Alliance française.
