MANAMA: Gulf Air, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national carrier, will launch direct daily flights to Bangalore from 1st May 2018 and direct 7 weekly flights to Calicut from 15th June 2018. This will expand its India operations to serve 8 cities in total supplementing its existing services to Delhi, Chennai, Kochi, Mumbai, Trivandrum and Hyderabad. The expansion coincides with Gulf Air’s new aircraft deliveries, of which 5 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and 2 Airbus A320Neos will enter its fleet this year.

Alongside this, Gulf Air is also expanding its network in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, launching direct 5 weekly flights to Abha and Tabuk from 15th June 2018 which will be in addition to the airline’s current operations to Dammam, Riyadh, Madina Al Munawarah, Jeddah and Gassim. The combination of destinations served and Gulf Air’s multiple schedule offerings will enhance connectivity for travellers between India and Saudi Arabia via Bahrain while facilitating movement further across Gulf Air’s network.

Gulf Air Chief Executive Officer Mr. Krešimir Kučko commented, “India is a strategically important market for us and this is increasingly evident as we expand our international network to reflect our customers’ needs. As we welcome new aircraft, our network will continue to expand giving our India-based passengers greater travel options onboard state-of-the-art aircraft, with greater capacity and superior products and services.”

In Q2 2018 Gulf Air will also launch direct flights to the Egyptian cities of Alexandria and Sharm El Shaikh, Baku in Azerbaijan and Casablanca in Morocco.

Gulf Air operates double daily flights or more to select destinations across the GCC, MENA region, Indian Subcontinent and Europe providing seamless connectivity for passengers travelling across its network via its efficient Bahrain International Airport hub.
