British Ambassador to Bahrain visits Gulf Air headquarters

MANAMA: In advance of Gulf Air’s Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner serving the airline’s Bahrain – London, Heathrow route next month, H.E. Simon Martin CMG The British Ambassador to Bahrain was recently welcomed to Bahrain’s national carrier’s headquarters where he met with Gulf Air Chief Executive Officer Mr. Krešimir Kučko, Gulf Air Deputy Chief Executive Officer Captain Waleed Abdulhameed Al Alawi and Gulf Air Chief Technical Officer Mr. Jamal Hashim. During the meeting they discussed future collaboration and joint promotion of the airline’s upcoming and highly anticipated Dreamliner service on its London Heathrow route which is scheduled to commence in June 2018. Gulf Air’s 10 incoming Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners will be powered by Rolls-Royce’s Trent 1000-TEN engines in an agreement that also includes long-term TotalCare® service support. Gulf Air’s current wide body fleet are also powered by Trent 700 engines and, with this latest development, the airline is continuing its longstanding relationship with Rolls-Royce as it takes an important step forward in developing its future fleet.

Gulf Air’s incoming fleet of 39 new Boeing and Airbus aircraft will see by end-2018 the arrival of five Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners and two Airbus A320neo aircraft. Three Dreamliner services have been announced this year: the Bahrain – London, Heathrow service, the Bahrain – Casablanca, Morocco service and the Bahrain – Bangkok, Thailand service. The new incoming aircraft will facilitate the national carrier’s expansion plans, while maintaining one of the youngest fleets in the region, building upon its award-winning reliability, on time performance and product and service standards.
