Shahid Afridi Foundation inaugurates SAF Schools in Sindh

KARACHI: Continuing with the “SAF Schools” initiative, SAF has adopted two schools in Rehri Goth and Wangi Goth in Karachi. Green Crescent Trust (GCT) are working with us as implementation partners for these two schools.

As we all know, almost 22 million children in Pakistan are out of schools, most unable to attend schools because of poverty and lack of basic education facilities.  SAF has taken the “SAF School” initiative to get these out of school, underprivileged children back to schools to secure the future of our nation.

SAF plans to spread the “SAF Schools” network all over Pakistan in the next five years, to support and uplift the poor and underprivileged communities through this education based initiative.

Mr. Shahid Afridi, Global Chairman SAF, Mr. Zeshan Afzal Global CEO, SAF and Mr. Zahid Saeed, CEO Green Crescent Trust jointly signed an MOU to mark the occasion and to collectively create & develop a basic education model promoting education for underprivileged communities. Under this model, SAF and GCT will jointly work together in Sindh to identify deserving communities, and will add basic education facilities, whilst simultaneously expanding the current schools.  This will help enrol the maximum number of out of school children. The first phase of this project is the adoption of Schools under the SAF umbrella and than expanding it across Sindh.

Speaking on the occasion, Zeshan Afzal briefed regarding technical, resource mobilization and outreach aspects of this project. He briefly shared SAF’s vision, mission and way-forward strategy for this noble cause of education. He also highlighted other aspects of SAF’s work through other  initiatives with regard to Health, Clean Water projects and Sports Rehabilitation. SAF aims to uplift the underprivileged communities in Pakistan with the help of the corporate community, under their CSR initiatives.

Education is the prime issue of our society and working at the grassroots level with joint efforts will bring the desired results. As such, SAF is collaborating with GCT for this very important purpose and this MoU is a huge step forward towards the accomplishment of our combined vision; promoting & spreading education across Pakistan.

Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, Shahid Afridi said that, “we will put together all collective efforts to eradicate illiteracy and to increase the enrollment of out of school children in Pakistan along with all stakeholders. Our collaboration with Green Crescent Trust is beginning of a new phase. Our combined efforts for education is meant for out of school children enrollment of underprivileged, deprived and remote areas of Karachi and interior Sindh. With GCT’s 23 plus years experience in educational management, SAF is very honored to have them as our implementation partner.

He also thanked Mr. Zahid Saeed, CEO GCT and his whole team for their support. He also requested overseas Pakistani’s and Pakistan based corporate donors to join-hands in this mega project of education.

He also shared his dream and commitment towards his philanthropic career and said that he is in a journey to give a new hope of Humanity to all the people across the Globe.

Mr. Zahid Saeed, CEO Green Crescent Trust, welcomed Mr. Shahid Afridi at the inauguration and MoU signing ceremony of SAF Schools in Rehri Goth and Wangi Goth, Karachi and highlighted GCT’s role as an implementation partner of SAF Schools. He gave an overview about GCT’s role in support of SAF.

Mr. Zahid Saeed, said that “today’s initiative by Shahid Afridi Foundation is indeed highly commendable initiative. It will set a great example of Pakistan’s Super Stars coming forward and owning the dream of education for all especially the enrollment of out of School Children in remote and rural areas of Karachi and interior Sindh. He also said being the implementation partner of SAF Schools; we have initially worked-out on all concept papers of this education initiative by SAF and GCT. He further added that this is not just the matter of money to serve humanity, we can also serve them through our expertise of knowledge & technical assistance via sustainable projects. He thanked Shahid Afridi for joining hands and hoped that these collaborative efforts may produce desired results and brings betterment in the society.” News Desk
