KARACHI: Women on Board PK, the non for profit trust that works for creating and expanding the leadership opportunities for women in corporate, social, public and philanthropic sectors, presented the “BoardTalks” Women Leadership Development Program in the city of Pakistan’s premier industrial and financial centre, Karachi, this Wednesday 24th October at Ball Room of Pearl-Continental Hotel Karachi.
With the vision to promote gender mainstreaming in leadership positions and build a diverse pipeline of board-ready and board-certified women professionals in Pakistan, WOB invited women professionals working in different corporate, business, entrepreneurial, social, public and other professional sector entities to for an interactive lecture/talk program aimed at training and mentoring the future female leaders of Pakistan by offering insights from leading corporate/business professionals.
Recognizing the leadership development needs for women professionals, Hashoo Group extended invaluable hospitality facilities to WOB for the holding of this BoardTalks and another 17 BoardTalks Sessions at its leading hotels in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad in the following months of November, January, February, April and May. The programs are going to have a focus on these particular areas: Women Leadership – Why it matters?, Essential Leadership Skillsets, Practical Aspects of Corporate Leadership/Board Matters and Emerging Ethical and Governance Trends.
Featuring in Karachi’s BoardTalks Session held on 24 October 2018, the Guest Speaker Mrs. Ameena Saiyid, Chairperson of Oxford University Press spoke about her perspectives on leadership skill sets, accompanied by our Guest of Honor, Mrs Shamshad Akhtar, former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, who gave a motivational lecture on advancing women in work. Moneeza Usman Butt, Partner KPMG Taseer Hadi Chartered Accountants was the MC for the event. Mr Aftab Chaudhry, Director PSX gave a brief talk about WoB and its objectives.
