JAKARTA: At the annual Global Sustainability Leadership Awards, Dubai Duty Free won the “Best Overall Sustainable Performance” and “Excellence in Sustainable Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Management” awards at the event held on 24th October at Sheraton Grand Jakarta Gandaria City Hotel in Indonesia.
The Global Sustainability Leadership Awards, part of the World Sustainability Congress founded by Dr. R. L. Bhatia, recognise and reward outstanding achievement in sustainability in the ‘built environment’ and are a key benchmark for achieving best practice in the sector.
Dubai Duty Free was awarded with “Best Overall Sustainable Performance” for demonstrating sustainability in the company’s business operations through its continuous and long term environmental, economic and social performance. While the “Excellence in EHS Management” highlighted the operation’s continuous improvement and commitment on its HSE Management System and the extent of the sustainability initiatives and practices applied in its daily activities.
Commenting on the two awards, Dubai Duty Free Executive Vice Chairman and CEO, Colm McLoughlin said, “”We are delighted to receive the “Best Overall Sustainable Performance” and “Excellence in EHS Management” which motivates us to continue with our company wide efforts of improving sustainability and making a valuable contribution to society”.
The Global Sustainability Leadership Awards were first launched in Mauritius on December 2015 with 224 Leaders in attendance from 73 countries. The event was held in Dubai in 2016 and 2017, where Dubai Duty Free first won the “Excellence in Sustainable Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Management” award in 2016.
