MUSCAT: Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman, gathered its entire commercial teams from around the globe together for its Global Commercial Conference held at the Hormuz Grand Muscat Hotel on the 5th and 6th December. Entitled “Winning Together”, the conference treated Oman Air’s commercial teams to two days of interesting and informative presentations, break-out sessions and panel discussions.
The focus was very much on Oman Air’s staff and how best to utilise the workforce together with technology and planning to deliver numbers and contribute to the success of the airline. Oman Air Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Abdulaziz Al Raisi commented; “I am delighted that we have had the opportunity to get together and spend two invaluable days not only listening to our in house experts but also having the opportunity for plenty of enlightening discussion and input from the global sales team. It is imperative that we pool all our combined knowledge and expertise from around the world to ensure the continuing success of Oman Air.”
Oman Air’s Chief Commercial Officer, Paul Starrs, opened the conference with the 2019 commercial strategy; outlining Oman Air’s plans for the coming year ensuring that the airline continues to operate as effectively as possible generating maximum revenue and maintaining customer satisfaction.
The first morning was focussed on customer experience and digital advancement and speakers included among others, Jaffar Al Lawati, Regional Vice President (RVP) Middle East and Africa who spoke on the title, “A Little Affection and Greater Rewards” and Dr Khalid Albalushi – Senior Manager Call Centres, Guest Relations and Corporate Communications and Media who covered “Call Centres and Digital Experience”.
Sunil VA, Regional Vice President for the Indian Sub-continent also gave an interesting short talk on “Experience Speaks”, where he spoke of retention of customers through loyalty programmes. Xia Cai, Senior Vice President Guest Experience and Branding shared her wealth of knowledge in product branding and guest experience.
Oman Air Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Abdulaziz Al Raisi opened the second day of the conference before taking part in a panel discussion with other senior members of the Oman Air Management team. This was followed by a series of talks covering topics such as Human Capital, delivered by Rogier De Jager, Regional Vice President Europe; E-commerce by Ali Jasim Senior Manager E-commerce, Impact of Technology in Planning by Jamal Al Azki Oman Country Manager and Sales and Revenue Management by Ihab Sorial Senior Vice President International Sales and Umesh Chhiber, Vice President Revenue Management.
