KUWAIT CITY: Copthorne Kuwait City Hotel has won 8 awards in the Hospitality Salon Culinaire competition held during the 8th edition of Horeca Kuwait 2019 exhibition from 14th -16th January 2019.
The contest among Kuwait’s leading hotel and restaurant chefs lasted for three days and included a variety of activities such as live cooking competitions that ranged from appetizers, desserts, hot and cold beverage and display categories.
Under the supervision of the Executive Chef Hossam Salah, the talented culinary team at Copthorne Kuwait City Hotel had shown a unique performance at the competition and had been awarded with three medals, one gold medal and two silver medals, and five merit medals.
Among the individuals highlights at this year’s competition was the Sous Chef Sam Niroshan who was awarded one Gold Medal in the “Cold Canapes” category, and two silver medals in “Six course Set Dinner Menu” and “Cold or Hot Sandwich Challenge” Categories. Over the years with Horeca Kuwait, Sam participated six times and won 6 Gold, 5 Silver, 4 Brown medals and 3 Certificates.
The hotels participants from the culinary team were also honored with five merit medals; Senior Chef de Parti Morshed Matior who won the “Three Plated Dessert Presentation”. Morshed also participated 3 times since Horeca Kuwait was launched and got HACCP award and 1 Certificate.
Demi chef Chaminda Jayalal also won in both the “Best Burger” and “Jack Creek Steak Challenge” categories, Commis II Sajith Iakshan won the “Chocolate Carving” and Demi chef Biswajith Shel won the “Mystery basket”.
