DUBAI: Driven by scientific curiosity and analytical skills, dozens of young cyber Security enthusiasts are taking part in the second edition of Capture the Flag (CTF), organized by Dubai Police in collaboration with Great Minds Event Management.
A total of 50 brilliant minds from 12 countries participated on the first day of Capture the Flag challenge. Participants hail from the UAE, The United Kingdom, Belgium, Egypt, Sudan, India, Palestine, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Syria, Nigeria and Greece.
The challenge, taking place at Hub Zero, City Walk, provides an opportunity to apply penetration testing and analytical skills in a real-world cyber security scenario.
The participants were shortlisted from among a total of 220 applicants after passing an online challenge.
During the two-day challenge, Cyber security enthusiasts are facing pre-designed cyberattacks during this year’s competition. Their capabilities are being tested through identifying anonymous cyber threats, conquering those attacks, which intend to cause harm to individuals, their belongings and penetrate their privacy.
The “Capture the Flag” cyber security challenge is promoting awareness among all segments of the society, especially young people about the importance of adopting knowledge and solutions for cyber protection.
Winners of the cyber security challenge will be announced during the closing ceremony on Saturday at 5pm, in the presence of Brigadier Jamal Salem Al Jalaf, Director of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Dubai Police.
