KARACHI: Mr. Junaid Hamid, Founder of ArtKaam Gallery organized “Layers of Silence” – An exhibition of paintings by Artist Riaz Rafi on March 14, 2019 at C-117, Sector 31-A, Korangi Industrial Area.
Karachi based artist Riaz Rafi, holds a Masters in Journalism and chose art as his profession. He has been painting since school days. In 1983, he won the gold medal for his artwork in “Sibi Mela”. His first solo exhibition was held in Karachi in 1993. Since then, he has been painting regularly and has had 9 solo exhibitions and more than 80 group shows, both nationally and internationally.
Riaz continues to experiment; his recent work has figures in abstraction, creating an attractive dreamy state. There is distinct penetrative breaking apart of the figure, and the spaces around it. Each painting talks to the viewer through its texture, vibrant color and delicate imagery, Ali Tabassam, Assistant Curator, ArtKaam Gallery said.
Growing from a private collection to an online gallery and then to a physical space, ArtKaam has taken a natural progression of a dream. A dream to see Pakistani art flourish with a space compatible to handle large displays of art.
