KUALA LUMPUR: The 11th World Halal Conference 2019 (WHC 2019) the leading international-scale platform for convergence that underscores Malaysia’s commitment to further develop the Halal industry has successfully wrapped up its annual Halal conference yesterday. WHC 2019 drew a highly engaged audience of Government representatives, business leaders, halal industry players, entrepreneurs, scholars and stakeholders; and offered a compelling line up of industry experts and keynote speakers.

A series of insightful sessions and panel discussions convened by industry experts were organised to focus on the growth phase, to explore opportunities and challenges aimed at integrating technological advancements, ethical governance and emerging market, through a plethora of topics on the progressive impacts of the halal economy.

“WHC 2019 was by all accounts, a tremendous success and I feel we’ve set a very high bar for ourselves for next year,” said The Hon. Senator Dr. Radzi Jidin, the Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs. “Attendance and general interest in the event exceeded our initial projections where more than 1200 delegates from 50 countries attended the 2-day conference. We made major partnership announcements, collaborations, launched a new service and received overwhelmingly positive feedback from all delegates.” he ended.

The WHC 2019 also witnessed the launch of BUNGKUS by HONESTBEE, a mobile apps-based food delivery service company committed to ensure the Halal status of the products delivered is uncompromised throughout the delivery process. BUNGKUS by HONESTBEE is the first Halal-certified food delivery service in Malaysia that only delivers from Halal-certified merchants. The launch was graced by Hanisofian Alias, Vice President Industry Development, Halal Industry Development Corporation.

“In line with the country’s digital economy initiatives, the launch of the first Halal-certified food delivery service, BUNGKUS by HONESTBEE doesn’t just reflect on the rising demand for Halal services but also the need to integrate technology within the Halal ecosystem to accelerate the growth of the Halal industry.” said Hanisofian.

This year’s conference saw strategic collaboration of several partners including, Duopharma Biotech Berhad, Nestle Malaysia, McDonalds Malaysia, Echo Foxtrot Sdn Bhd (Bungkus by Honestbee), Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Hong Leong Islamic Bank and Association of Islamic Banking and Financial Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM).

“We are honoured to see such strong commitment from our industry partners, together with the participation of foreign delegates and renowned speakers who will make this year’s conference a success. We urge for their continuous support; together we can take the Halal Industry to new heights, at international and local,” said YB Senator Dr. Radzi.
