MANAMA: Gulf Air – the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain – today celebrated the International Labour Day with a staff appreciation ceremony that was held at the airline’s headquarters in Muharraq, Bahrain. The event included opening remarks by the airline’s executive management and concluded with rewarding more than 40 employees for their distinguished work and exceptional performance during the last 12 months.
Moreover, Gulf Air takes pride in its development programmes that aim to create a pool of Bahraini talents to take over senior positions, which have resulted in a total of 46 Bahraini staff promotions since the beginning of 2019 within its Bahrain headquarters. The number included 7 junior staff being promoted to a managerial level, 6 first officers being promoted to senior first officers and 8 senior first officers being promoted to Captains.
The airline is proud in its highly qualified Bahraini personnel and continuously invests in their development and career progression. With 90% of employees that are based at the headquarters in Muharraq being Bahraini along with nearly 70% of its pilots, Gulf Air is a leader in the Bahrainisation programme in the Kingdom as it provides the opportunity for local talents and experienced personnel to work in its various areas of the airline’s business.
