KARACHI: One day workshop on capacity building on International Law, Human Dignity and Human Rights was held at SSU Headquarters’ conference hall. Former IGP Sindh Mr. Niaz Ahmed Siddiki, Professor Dr. Silvia Illari (Italy), Ms. Anna Ruffino Consul, Condulate of Italy in Karachi, Ms. Fouzia Tariq Human Rights expert and Malik Tahir Iqbal, Director Legal Rights Forum were distinguished guests. The programme was coordinated and moderated by Ms. Fauzia Tariq. A group of SSU officers and commandos attended the workshop.
Security Officer Mr. Muzaffar Iqbal while delivering welcome speech briefed the participants about landmarks achieved by SSU by adopting advanced and modern techniques.
Mr. Niaz Ahmed Siddiki spoke on the fundamental rights guaranteed in the Constitution of Pakistan. Dr. Silvia spoke on the Condtitutional Law of Italy and drew similarities between the Constitutions of the two countries in upholding the rule of law and protecting the fundamental rights of the citizens.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks from Ms. Anna Ruffino who appreciated the efforts of DIGP Operations Lt. Maqsood Ahmed for establishing an advanced, modern Special Security Unit (SSU). She also praised the professional capabilities of Commandant SSU Lt. Ghulam Murtaza Tabbasum. Says in press release
