KUWAIT: Careem and NBK today announce a new partnership that will see NBK manage the collection of Careem customer payments.

Careem is the leading technology platform for the greater Middle East and has been operating its ride hailing service with taxis in Kuwait since 2017 and is the largest player in the market. Careem has changed the way people move around their cities, providing a safe, reliable service with transparent pricing. Today many Kuwaitis will choose to leave their car at home or at the office, and use the Careem app to ride throughout the day – decreasing the number of cars on the road and saving people time. The Careem platform has also benefited the taxi industry by making driver time more efficient – reducing their downtime and fuel costs by optimising where they spend their day to best match customer demand.

The partnership will facilitate the backend collection of Careem customer payments though NBK.

“Through our new partnership with NBK, Careem customer payments will now be collected via NBK. We are delighted to join forces in Kuwait with such an established institution as NBK and look forward to rolling out further, exciting developments together in the future” said Khaled Nuseibeh, General Manager of Careem, GCC countries.

“We are pleased to announce our latest partnership with Careem as part of our commitment to providing the best online payment solutions and at the highest standards of safety that enable customers to complete their transactions electronically and increase non-cash payment” said Mohammad Al Othman, NBK General Manager Consumer Banking Group.
