KARACHI: More than 300 patients from lower middle and underprivileged strata of society were provided consultation from senior consultants, investigations and medicines during one day free medical camp organized by the Usman Memorial Hospital, located in Husainabad area of city.
Patients thronged from Husainabad, Federal B. Area, North Nazimabad, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and other adjoining areas, and slums to avail these much needed medical facilities which were provided with dignity and all free of cost.
Director Medical Services, Usman Memorial Hospital Dr. Faraz told media persons that team of senior consultants and staff from six disciplines including internal medicine, orthopaedic, gynaecology, paeds, general surgery, and dental served all patients. Director Operations of hospital Mazher Ahmed and Administrator Sabeeh Mirza headed the team, he told.
Apart from medical camps, we also organize awareness sessions for general public. Needy and deserving patients are provided free treatment in hospital and no one is denied medical assistance just because of the reason that he or she does not have money to pay, Dr. Faraz added.
Chairman, District Municipal Corporation (DMC) Central, Rehan Hashmi paid visit to camp and briefed about services provided during this camp and also about extension of hospital facilities.
Talking to journalists, Chairman DMC Central Rehan Hashmi observed that medical services are very costly in private hospitals which is not possible by people from underprivileged class to afford. Camp like this is a blessing for such patients, he appreciated.
Central is the largest most populated district of Pakistan and institutions like Usman Memorial Hospital are serving the community in real. Hospital extension with modern equipments and gadgets is a good sign for patients who avail its services. Such services were much needed and this hospital is a gift for underprivileged community. Other institutions should also follow this practice, Rehan Hashmi added.
