DUBAI: Over 15,000 dnata employees around the world teamed up and took part in the company’s unique fundraising activity, ‘dnata runs the world’, to make a positive difference to the lives of others.
Across the continents, from Sydney to San Francisco, teams from 26 countries joined the challenge to run the combined distance of the circumference of the world, 40,075 km, while making fundraising pledges at 80 locations. The dedicated dnata team significantly exceeded its target by completing a total of 49,800 km and raising some $400,000 for charity through raffles, bake sales and exercise classes held around the main event.
Across its global network, dnata partnered with different registered charities in the areas of education, wildlife conservation and humanitarian work. Each team selected the charity that their donations would benefit, based on their own community preferences.
Gary Chapman, President of dnata, said: “Since we launched dnata4good, our global corporate social responsibility programme, thousands of our colleagues have supported our charity partners through fund-raising, donations and even front-line volunteering in the communities in which we operate.
“‘dnata runs world’ has mobilised us globally at a whole new level and I thank all my colleagues, dnata’s partners and sponsors, for their contribution to this initiative’s success. Together, we’ll continue our efforts to make a positive impact on the world around us. ”
In the UAE, dnata’s 3,000 employees ran a total of 17,000 km and raised funds in support of Dubai Cares’ educational programs in developing countries.
