KARACHI: Dawood Global Foundation and Sindh Governor House just held the 11th LADIESFUND Women’s Awards for Pakistan 2019 with Chief Guest Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, Guest of Honour State Bank Governor Dr. Reza Baqir, Lifetime Achievement Winners Ava Cowasjee and Special Advisor to PM Dr. Sania Nishtar.
People’s Choice winners were Myra Qureshi (Trailblazer), Abida Rashid Khan (Momentum) and child abuse prevention activist Frieha Altaf (Woman of the Year). Pop songstress Jana Nazareth sang the National Anthem and Anjaleen Agrawalla performed an exquisite classical dance.
Highlights were Hoor, a Makli beggar turned entrepreneur winning the Pioneer award and Sameena of Tharparkar winning Idol. Spotted at the high profile event were Senator Khushbakht Shujat, Senator Nasreen shakil, Angie Marshall, Niilufer Farrukh, Amin Gulge, Khalid Mirza, Begum Governor Reema Imran, LADIESFUND President Tara Uzra Dawood.
LADIESFUND® was established in 2007 as an initiative to provide financial security to women and to promote and train women entrepreneurs. It aims to integrate the entrepreneurial needs based on the economic and social aspects of the local communities, with respect to greater women participation in the workforce. Dawood Global Foundation is audited by Ernst Young Ford Rhodes Sidat Hyder and funds raised from LADIESFUND® events are tax exempt and go toward LADIESFUND® Fellowships & Scholarships as well as women development initiatives.
