ABU DHABI: The Society of Pakistan English Language Teachers (SPELT) is hosting the 35th SPELT International Conference, “Innovations in ELT: Future Directions” from today, Saturday and tomorrow Sunday, October 26-27, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the IQRA University-Main Campus, Shaheed-e-Millat Road Extension, Phase 1, Defence View, Karachi.
Living up to its tradition of offering a high-quality professional development opportunity for teachers, educators, and academicians, the Annual SPELT International ELT Conference commences in the last week of October 2019. ELT Professionals and experts in the field of education from across the globe and Pakistan are presenting and participating in this conference. Hywel Coleman, Honorary Senior Research Fellow, School of Education, University of Leeds, will deliver the keynote address on: Language In The Environment: What Does It Tell Us And How Can We Use It.
At the conference, there will be four plenary sessions by National and International Speakers. These include: The Emotional and Identity Turn in Second Language Teacher Education: Prospects and Possibilities by Peter De Costa, who is currently associated with Department of Linguistics and Germanic, Slavic, Asian and African Languages Michigan State University, USA,
Revisiting ELT and Language Skills Development in a Global Perspective: Valuing the Old, looking at the Future by Dr. Lucilla Lopriore, Department of Foreign Languages, Literature and Cultures, ROMA TRE University-Italy, “Bring your Parents Tomorrow”.
Feedback on Students’ Writings: A Reaction or Direction? by Dr. Prof. Saiqa Imtiaz, Department of English, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, Assessing Speaking Skills of Thai Young Learners by Dr. Jirada Wudthayagorn, Assistant Professor, Chulalongkom, University Language Institute, Bangkok, Thailand. Other featured speakers from the field of education and English Language Teaching fraternity, presenting at the conference include, Dr. Judy Sharkey and Hemanthi Hidellaarachchi, Prof. Zakia Sarwar, Abbas Husain, Dr. Umar Farooq, Dr. Fatima Dar, Dr. Nasreen Husain.
