DUBAI: Transguard Group took to the streets of Dubai to spread awareness for Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout the month of October. Among other awareness initiatives, Transguard drove one of its transport buses – wrapped pink – to its awareness sessions that were made available to its female workforce of 5,000, and around Dubai, making stops in front of iconic buildings and landmarks to increase visibility with community members.

“Breast Cancer Awareness Month is an extremely important initiative for us for several reasons, the most important being as the region’s top manpower supplier, our employees’ health, safety and wellness are our number one priority, so educating staff on topics such as this will help bring awareness on the importance of early detection and prevention,” said Greg Ward, Managing Director, Transguard Group. “In total, the pink bus visited 10 of our internal awareness sessions that were held at different offices and accommodations located throughout Dubai. We hope the message that the bus carried had a ripple effect on not only our staff but also the rest of the community.”

Some of the other initiatives that Transguard Group held to spread awareness about the campaign included free health screenings for female staff – arranged by six major hospitals and one insurance provider – and movie nights to further push the message of early detection and prevention. Free vouchers for consultations and mammograms were given to female staff members who couldn’t attend the awareness sessions.

“Creating engaging health education campaigns for our employees helps us move the needle on employee welfare, which is a pillar of our Corporate Social Responsibility programme, ”said Lena ter Laare, Director, Marketing and Corporate Social Responsibility. “This month’s campaign – Breast Cancer Awareness – is an extremely important topic to discuss with our employees, not only with our female staff members but also our male staff members who have mothers, wives, sisters and daughters. We’re pleased to be able to contribute to this important topic with our staff and the community.” News Desk
