DUBAI: Under the patronage of His Excellency Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention in the UAE, His Excellency Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand, Assistant Undersecretary for Health Centers and Clinics Sector, Ministry of Health & Prevention officially inaugurated today the 7th edition of the Dubai Otology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery Conference and Exhibition – Dubai Otology at the Mohammed bin Rashid Academic Medical Center in Dubai.
Following the official opening ceremony, His Excellency Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand, accompanied by H.E Dr. Amin Al Amiri, Asst. Undersecretary of Public Health Policy & Licensing Sector at UAE Ministry of Health & Prevention, Conference Chairman Dr. Ahmed Al Amadi, Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman of Dubai Otology, and a number of officials and top-notch speakers toured the exhibition area where they were briefed about the latest technologies and advanced treatment options related to the field of Otology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery.
Giving his opening remarks, His Excellency Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand said: “Dubai Otology plays a vital role in the industry as it discusses pressing topics presented by a number of renowned physicians and doctors from various specialties. This specialized event is a scientific platform for ENT specialists, neurologists, audiologists, speech and hearing therapists, and the physiotherapists, where they can gather under one roof to learn about the latest advancements in the field and share their insights, both in terms of pharmacological or surgical treatment.”
His Excellency added: “We all know that theories and methods of diagnosis and treatment of diseases are changing and evolving rapidly and therefore the mechanisms of which the doctor follow also change accordingly. Thus, we need such scientific and medical conferences to stay up-to-date with any developments in the field. We, at the Ministry of Health and Prevention, are always working hard to implement the strategic vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, as His Highness pays special attention to the medical sector and always calls on all the officials to consider and follow the most advanced and integrated medical systems and services. Also, the Ministry is always keen to adopt a comprehensive approach that focuses on many aspects related to the health and medical sector and the developments in this sector including professional development, medical education, training and innovation to benefit all members of the community.”
He concluded: “It is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Health and Prevention to hold such scientific events to learn about the latest medical practices from different parts of the world, in accordance with the strategy of the Ministry to provide the best health services to its citizens and residents in the UAE.”

He added, “With the aim of enabling knowledge transfer and enhancing the clinical expertise of Otology experts, this year we are organizing many audio vestibular workshops with hands-on training on Cochlear Implant mapping, EABR, EnoG, VHIT and dynamic visual acuity while also providing a special hands-on training session on vestibular rehabilitation. Dubai Otology will once again this year feature its popular cadaveric dissection workshop on frozen cadavers where over 20 surgical procedures will be performed on these specimens. On the sidelines of the conference, we are very happy to witness the attendance of leading brands in Otology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery industry in the dedicated exhibition where they will showcase their products and technologies and explore collaboration and networking opportunities with professionals and Otology experts.”

In its latest edition, Dubai Otologyis expected to attract over500visitors and participants over the next 3 days while also witnessing the participation of 46expert speakers, who offer their valuable insights and share the latest research in Otology, Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery. In addition, for the benefit of specialists and clinical experts attending the conference, Dubai Otology features 11 scientific sessions, addressing the most challenging topics facing industry experts and practitioners.
On the first day, experts and specialists attending the conference addressed a number of important advanced topics related to Otology, such as ‘Chronic otitis media and its complications’, ‘Facial Nerve Palsy’, ‘The Role of Body Mass Index on Hearing Outcomes After Stapes Surgery’, ‘Cholesteatoma: Panel Discussion’ and ‘Imaging for evaluation of cholesteatoma: current concepts and future directions’ among others. Moreover, 2 dedicated workshops will be held on the sidelines of the conference namely‘ Basic & Advanced Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS)’ and Advanced Vestibular workshop focusing on ‘Balance, Hearing and Speech – Language Specialties’.
