DUBAI: 17th annual general assembly meeting of World Memon Organisation (WMO) was held at Metropolitan Hotel, Dubai, United Arab Emiraets from 31st October 2019 and carried-on till 02nd November 2019. This annual event of Memon community unties Memons from all over the world as they assemble to promote to their organisation’s WMO’s motto which is serving mankind by uniting, upholding and uplifting. This 17th annual general assembly meeting of World Memon Organisation was presided by Mr. Suleman Noor Mohammad President of WMO.
The Office bearers, patrons, trustees, members and foreign delegates of WMO started assembling in the city of Dubai as early as 28th October 2019, whereas annual conference was scheduled to start from 31st October 2019. Mr. Khalid Dhedhi & Shaikhani family were at the forefront in hosting the Office bearers, patrons, trustees, members and foreign delegates of WMO, who were treated with lavish dinner at Mr. Khalid Dhedhi’s residence.
On Tuesday 29th October 2019 Mr. & Mrs. Iqbal Dawood hosted all the office bearers, patrons, trustees, members and foreign delegates at their residence for splendid dinner.
On 31st October 2019 17th edition of WMO’s AGAM kicked-off formally and proceeding of day one started off with Chairman of Global Youth Wing Mr. Junaid Merchant highlighting the projects under taken by Youth Wing of WMO. On future project of youth wing he informed that WMO M10 Cricket League will commence from 09th January 2020 at Sharjah Cricket Ground. Karachi Kings will be the main sponsors of this WMO M10 Cricket League. Mr. Salman Iqbal CEO and President of ARY Group was invited on stage for unveiling of trophy of WMO M10 Cricket League..
Board of trustees of World Memon Organization (WMO) informed about the activities performed during the last year and also about upcoming projects under the banner of WMO. Board members stressed all the trustees, members, patrons for more and more zakat. Mr. Ahmed Sheikhani Vice President WMO said; “on education sector we have done well and right now more than 11000 kids are getting education under community supervision”, he further said that; “we are here for collections and Al-Hamdu-Lil-laah ARY family has committed for PKR 10 million and Sheikhani family has also has committed for PKR 10 million which is a very positive sign for our community”. Mr. Sattar Dada Ambassador WMO also stressed on paying more so that organization can be sustained more.
Last event of day one of WMO’s agam was dinner hosted by was hosted by Mr. & Mrs. Salman Iqbal at their ARY residence. During his welcome speech CEO and President of ARY Group Mr. Salman Iqbal welcomed the president WMO, office bearers, trustees, patrons, members and foreign delegates at his residence. He said; “WMO is taking the mission of Haji Abdul Razzak further and today he would have been proud to see it where WMO is today”. Late Haji Abdul Razzak was one of the founder member of World Memon Organization and his vision was to bring all the memon community under one umbrella for the upliftment and enhancement.
Second day started off early and to be precise at 09:00 AM with lengthy and brief meetings dominating the agenda. Executive Committee Meeting (ExCom) and Management Committee Meeting (MC). On the evening of day two all participants proceeded towards the Ismail Gadit’s residence, Mr. & Mrs. Ismail Gadit were waiting to welcome them and treat them with best desi, Arabic and continental cuisines.
Third and final day of this conference was a very long and fruitful day. Day started off with ladies Wing dominating the first half and annual General Assembly Meeting dominating the second half of the day. Management Committee Meeting (MC) was also held. On evening of third and final day of the conference Mr. & Mrs. Majid Ranani hosted a very lavish and royal reception in honor WMO delegates at their Ranani residence.
On Sunday 03rd November 2019 turned out to be the most entertaining day for the WMO participants. The day begum with desi breakfast on at B&B Breakfast & Bar-B-Que Restaurant, Bur Dubai followed by some discounted shopping at Junaid Jamshed and Anarkali&James. After shopping spree all proceeded back towards their hotel, which was the pickup point a very memorable journey that was waiting ahead for them. Dr. Mohammad Ashfaq Konchwalla and Mrs. Yasmeen Ashfaq Konchwalla had arranged Desert Safari for all the trustees, patrons and foreign delegates of WMO. This desert safari gave WMO members the real taste of arab world and is one of its kind in the world with strong muscled SUV’s bashing and destroying sand dunes.
Last but not the least on Monday exactly one week after it all started, Zeenat Yaseen Merchant hosted lunch reception at Merchant Residence for WMO ladies wing..
