DUBAI: Global leader in imaging technology, Nikon Middle East FZE concluded the second edition of Cinema Z, The Nikon film festival on 13th November in Dubai. The event celebrating filmmakers and Videographers in the region saw a participation of over 250 filmmakers and photographers. All the 15 films nominated for the final stage of assessment in the three categories – student films, enthusiasts’ films, and pro films were filmed and produced entirely on the Nikon Z6 cameras. They were screened before the audience before announcing the winner in each category.
Nikon also launched their latest mirrorless camera in their Z series – the Z50, at the event. The newest addition to Nikon’s Z series was unveiled for the first time in the UAE at the Cinema Z Film Festival where interestingly, the audience got an exclusive hands-on experience with the new camera as a number of models were passed around while the camera was being introduced.
The Cinema Z film festival concluded on a thrilling note as the winners in each category were announced. Richard Galapate won first prize in the Student category fromBath Spa University, which was for high school and university students for his/her film“Hello”. He won the new Nikon Z50 camera, Zhiyun Weebill Lab, SD card, 12-month Vimeo Pro Membership, and an exclusive Nikon School videography course. His/her university also won a Nikon Z50 camera, SD card, and an exclusive Nikon School Program. Rameez Manamakkavil won first prize in the Enthusiast category, a select category for hobbyists & passionate videographers, for their film “Subsist.” He won a Nikon Z6, NIKKOR Z 24-70mm F/4s, FTZ Adapter, Zhiyun Crane 3 Lab, $750 cash Prize, $1000 Nikon Gift Voucher, 64gb XQD card, 12-month Vimeo Pro Membership and access to the exclusive Nikon Premium Members Program. MidhunMukhund won first prize in the Pro category, which was strictly for licensed professionals for the film “Hero.” Hewon a Nikon Z6, NIKKOR Z 24-70mm F/4s, Nikkor Z 85mm f/1.8S, FTZ Adapter, Zhiyun Crane 3 Lab, $1500 cash Prize, $1000 Nikon Gift Voucher, Two 64gb XQD card, 12-month Vimeo Pro Membership and access to the exclusive Nikon Premium Members Program. These exciting prizes were cherry-picked into these combinations to help the winners enhance their filmography further with the use of this equipment and vouchers. The event also witnessed an interactive selfie contest with the new Z50 for the guests where the prize for grabs was the latest Z50 itself!
