KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 483 delegation members from ATCO Laboratories Limited Pakistan arrived in Kuala Lumpur for a visit from 6 to 10 January 2020. The group was the first to arrive as an incentive delegation for Visit Malaysia 2020 (VM2020) campaign.

ATCO Laboratories Limited was among the pharmaceutical pioneers in Pakistan, and now the eleventh largest in the country. The company has been operating more than 40 years, delivering health services to Pakistan and exporting to more than 20 countries since 1992.

Pakistanis market recorded a positive increase since Tourism Malaysia started focussing in the market towards the end of 2017.  In 2018, there were 74,458 Pakistani tourists (+39.3%), in comparison of 53,453 tourists in 2017.

The market’s performance from January to September 2019 also recorded an increase of 33% to 74,580 tourists, in comparison to 56,073 in 2018, even though Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) discontinued Kuala Lumpur’s route for 8 months (February to October 2018) due to escalating Pakistan-India airspace issue.

Malaysia is a favourite country for Pakistanis due to a strong tourism marketing and branding as a preferred Muslim destination. In addition, Malaysia is projected as a family getaway with shared cultural values.  For VM2020, Malaysia targets 81,000 tourists from Pakistan.
