DUBAI: Dubai’s taxi drivers were given a breakfast treat on Tuesday at IntercityHotel Dubai Jaddaf Waterfront’s Taxi Drive-Through Day.
The “hoteliers with passion” gave away takeaway breakfast ofchicken biryani and karak tea to 100 taxi drivers. The initiative is part of the hotel’s push for responsible tourism.
“Most of these people are up earlier than most of us to make sure we are safely transported to our destination. Some of them start work on an empty stomach. We wanted to do something special to give back to our partners in travel,” said Aylin Nöske, General Manager of IntercityHotel Dubai Jaddaf Waterfront.
A new UAE survey shows that 54 percent of UAE residents skip breakfast every day, with residents saying that lack of time was their biggest barrier. According to research, skipping breakfast may diminish mental performance and cause fatigue, factors that create dangerous conditions for people, especially drivers.
“We hope that we have inspired our taxi drivers to take care of their health behind the wheel and to always fuel up with a hearty breakfast,” Nöske added. InterciyHotel Dubai Jaddaf Waterfront offers a healthy breakfast buffet at its lobby-level Bistro Box. Breakfast is included in the room rate for guests booking through intercityhotel.com
