DUBAI: Emirates Islamic, one of the leading Islamic financial institutions in the UAE, reiterated its commitment to Emiratisation with the launch of ‘Kuwati’, an in-house women’s empowerment programme for UAE nationals. This initiative is in line with the National Strategy for Empowerment of Emirati Women that was launched in 2015 by HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairwoman of Family Development Foundation and President of Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, to achieve gender equality and women’s empowerment in the UAE and around the world.

Through the three-month programme, Emirates Islamic’s mission is to ensure that Emirati women reach their potential and are well-equipped to effectively embark on their career path in the banking industry. The bank aims to train more than 30 participants every quarter and create an environment that will help develop local talent and enhance their professional skills and capabilities. The first group of candidates, which comprised of 35 Emirati female staff members, kicked off their three-month coaching journey recently.

Salah Amin, CEO of Emirates Islamic, said: “As a home-grown bank and a leading Islamic financial institution in the UAE, we have a long-standing commitment and responsibility towards developing and empowering Emirati women, as we provide them with extraordinary opportunities to grow, develop and contribute to the UAE economy. I would like to extend my best wishes to all participants as they advance in their journey to fulfil their aspirations.”

Marwan Salem Abunawas AlMheiri, Chief Human Resources Officer at Emirates Islamic, said: “Emirates Islamic is committed to supporting the success of Emarati women, who play an instrumental role in shaping the future of the UAE and helping realise the country’s visionary aspirations. We are confident that the Kuwati programme will enable the bank to build a strong pool of UAE national female talent and cement our status as an employer of choice for Emarati women across the nation.”
