DUBAI: Underlining the strong interest of Russian businessmen in the competitive business environment of Dubai, the Business Registration & Licensing (BRL) sector in Dubai Economy has officially launched the Russian SORP Group, the first business centre for Russian companies in Dubai.
This is part of BRL’s focus to encourage the setting up of new companies and its commitment to strengthening relations with businessmen as well as enhancing awareness about developing the business sector and doing business in Dubai.
Walid Abdel Malik, Director of Business Registration Division at BRL sector; and Elena Tselischeva, General Manager of SORP Group, officially launched the centre in the presence of high officials from the two entities.
Walid Abdel Malik, said: “UAE and Russia have flourishing bilateral trade and cultural ties. The official launch of the Russian centre is in line with Dubai Economy’s continued efforts to strengthening business activity in Dubai. The BRL team works closely with the private sector to drive a dynamic business environment as well as improve ease of doing business and to meet the needs and aspirations of businesses. This will help us achieve a quantum leap in the business environment and economic performance of Dubai, which will further attract new regional and international enterprises to the emirate.”

We aim to provide Russian businessmen from various sectors easier access to setting up business in Dubai and contribute to the successful growth of their business. We organise free monthly awareness workshops in Russian and English languages to motivate potential businessmen to start businesses or boost existing ones”, said Elena Tselischeva.
“We have created a unique platform for more than 350 companies from top business sectors including Wholesale and Retail, Services, Investment and Finance, Holding structures and IT (services and design). SORP Group provides valuable advice, guidance, expert support, experienced help for a wide range of business needs in the UAE. We are focusing in solving important topics in the fields of company formation, PRO services, marketing, strategy planning and adaption, and tax consulting”, added Tselischeva.
A recent report by the Business Registration & Licensing sector noted that 3,607 Russian businessmen own 2,616 active business licences in the emirate of Dubai as of end-2019. Commercial activities accounted for 1,575 licences (60%), followed by professional activities with 914 licences (35%) leading to creating 10,382 jobs.
As per the distribution of those Russian licences, Bur Dubai accounted for the largest share (1,575), followed by Deira (1,040), and Hatta (1) licence. The top sub-regions by end of 2019 were: Burj Khalifa, Naif, Eyal Nasser, Al Marrar, Trade Centre 1, Port Saeed, Al Barsha 1, Al Muraqqabat, Al Thanya 1, and Hor Al Anz East.
