MANAMA: Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the Royal Charity Organization celebrated raising USD 91,904.16 since the successful launch of their passenger donations project. Launched in September 2018, the initiative allowed passengers to donate coins or notes of any currency onboard Gulf Air flights. The project was launched by H.E. Mr. Zayed R. Alzayani, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism and Chairman of Gulf Air’s Board of Directors and H.E Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayed, Secretary-General of the Royal Charity Organization. This ongoing initiative is aimed at activating social responsibility and allowing passengers to participate and contribute to charitable work, including supporting university students who are struggling with their tution fees.
Commenting on this milestone, H.E. Mr. Zayed R. Alzayani said: “This is a great achievement for Gulf Air and the Royal Charity Organization. Having such mechanism to allow passengers to donate their excess coins and notes when returning from their holidays and business trips indeed boosts the priniciples of social responsibilty of both organizations. Today, we have collected USD91,904.16; money that will be managed by RCO and invested in charity projects in Bahrain to support those in need. I thank RCO for their outstanding role in giving back to the community and in managing humanitarian activities, particularly for Bahraini orphans”.
H.E. Mr. Zayed R. Alzayani praised the role of the passengers being the core of the project’s success through their donations onboard Gulf Air flights.
Dr. Mustafa Al Sayed praised the efforts of Gulf Air towards this humanitarian project. Stating that we are thankful for and appreciative to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism; and the Chairman of Gulf Air H.E Mr. Zayed R. Alzayani for supporting the charitable and humanitarian work in the Kingdom of Bahrain.
He signified that this project is an authentic intiative; and it represents a successful model of Corporate Social Responsibility among corporations that support the humanitarian deeds. Including the comprehensive care and wellbeing programs that the Royal Charity Organization provides for the less fortunate families in need. The Gulf Air-RCO donation project is being held for the first time in the Kingdom of Bahrain and promotes the principle of community partnership to encourage travelers to donate excess money change by placing it in special envelopes that are located in seat pockets onboard Gulf Air flights. The airline would like to thank all of its passengers for their generosity and for making this campaign a success.
