Talabat waives delivery fees in support of local restaurant partners and customers

DUBAI: Talabat, the region’s leading food delivery platform, has announced that it will waive delivery fees based on consumers proximity to a restaurant, regionwide. The initiative comes with Talabat’s desire to support its restaurant partners & customers to navigate the uncertainty provided by COVID-19.

Using Talabat’s in-app location-based technology, customers will be able to choose free delivery from a multitude of different restaurants and cuisines nearby.

Tomaso Rodriguez, Talabat CEO, underlines that while safety is Talabat’s top priority, supporting our restaurant partners to leverage our technology is definitely next in line.

‘The safety of our customers, restaurant partners, riders and our employees is without a doubt our top priority. Everything else is secondary. We already started taking precautionary measures within our delivery ecosystem in January to ensure safety comes first.

At the same time, ensuring business continuity for our restaurant partners business is important. By leveraging our technology, we’re encouraging our customers to order from nearby restaurant partners who may be seeing dine-in rates dropping due to uncertainty around COVID-19,’ he said.

As part of a global delivery network, Talabat has been monitoring COVID-19 since January, says Rodriguez.

‘We are well prepared, and are working with local authorities to ensure the safety of our customers, riders and restaurant partners, in each market that we operate.’ Consumers can download the Talabat app for Android from Google Play or IOS on  the Apple App Store.
