DUBAI: The Dubai Government Workshop (DGW) joins the whole nation in its support and celebration of the Earth Hour initiative, an annual event aimed at encouraging individuals, communities and businesses to turn off non-essential electric lights, for one hour, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM as a symbol of commitment to the planet. Locally organized in part by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), Earth Hour looks towards increasing awareness about the dangers and impact made by climate change and global warming.
H.E. Fahad Ahmed Al-Raeesi, CEO, DGW, shared that their participation at this year’s Earth Hour celebrations, which is being held under the slogan, ‘Raise your voice,’ aims to enhance the DGW employees’ sense of environmental responsibility and encourage their contribution to the implementation of the government’s strategy to protect the environment and conserve natural resources for future generations to enjoy. He stressed on the DGW’s continuing commitment towards carrying out its tasks and responsibilities with regards to supporting endeavors to protect the earth, preserve the environment and fight climate change through the promotion of a sustainable lifestyle and the use of renewable energy in various fields of work.
