KARACHI: The Karachi Arts Council is making preparations to bring a fun-filled and entertaining “Karachi Theatre Festival 2020” for the citizens, revealed at a press conference today. Addressing the press conference president Arts Council Ahmed Shah told that after the massive success of the Awami Theatre Festival he is delighted to announce the Karachi Theatre Festival 2020 which includes the plays of our young and senior incredible directors.
“Theatre is at the forefront of art. The theatre is not just the medium for actors rather it is incomplete without all the writers, directors. This medium includes lights, stage design, and makeup in it. The young directors have studied theatre and now they are working diligently for the evolution of theatre” Ahmed Shah said.
The schedule of the Karachi Theatre Festival was announced at a press conference. According to the schedule, during the course of the 18-days event, a different play will be staged each day starting from October 01 with the theatre play “Heer” by well-known director Zain Ahmed the festival will last till October 18.
“The people are fed up with the bad news. In this situation, if a new step is taken it will be a positive change for the citizens. I am grateful to the media for giving hype to the Awami Theatre Festival. This year people are enjoying and appreciating the plays more. We are also concern about the health of our audience so this festival has been organized by keeping in view all the SOP’s” he further said.
While giving a briefing on the occasion director and chief coordinator of the project Meesam Naqvi said “Except just the typical things this year we have tried to come up with something unique. The festival also includes talks and workshops through which people will get a chance to talk and learn from the well-known directors of the industry. This year we are gearing up to show a street play directed by Afreen Sehar and this play will be a huge surprise for the audience”
“A large number of people are attending the Awami theater festival 2020, it is a sign of the popularity of the event. After Corona, people wanted to get out of their homes and was looking for some sort of entertainment Ahmed Shah realized this necessity and organized these festivals for the citizens” said Secretary Arts Council Ejaz Ahmed Faroqi.
On the occasion veteran actor Talat Hussain, Secretary Arts council Ejaz Ahmed Farooqi, and Treasurer arts council Qudsia Akber were also present.
