ABU DHABI: Etihad Airways, the national airline of the UAE, has released an official podcast – Altitudes by Etihad – to provide listeners with unique insights on how the airline responded to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, while also taking a deep dive into some of 2020’s most significant events.
Ahead of the launch of ‘Altitudes byEtihad’, Tony Douglas, Etihad Aviation Group’s Chief Executive Officer, yesterday opened the Global Aerospace Summit with a keynote speech giving an insight into the airline’s response to the pandemic. The Summit is a forum for industry leaders from across the globe to address the aviation sector’s biggest challenges and opportunities.
Following on from the Summit, listeners are now invited to enjoy a more detailed, behind-the-scenes look at the airline and the aviation sector from the Group CEO’s perspective, through this frank and honest podcast series.

In the first episode, Tony Douglas recounts the airline’s initial response to the grounding of the fleet, talks about the airline’s new Etihad Wellness proposition, addresses the industry requirement for universal health visas, the industry’s response to COVID-19, and answers burning questions around potential flights from Abu Dhabi to Israel, and the persistent rumours of Etihad merging with Emirates.
In the podcast, Tony Douglas comments: “As countries open back up, we need to stay focused and maintain momentum – it’s all about little victories. What we have done successfully, is continued to make lots of little victories that not only sustained our motivation, but also recognised the remarkable progress that’s been made in the most difficult of times.”
