DUBAI: The invaluable role of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry as a business facilitator was the subject of the recent ‘Ask the Expert’, the monthly videos series, under Dubai Chamber’s Business Connect initiative.
The latest instalment in the series saw Mohammed bin Sulaiman, Senior Manager, Business Relations, Dubai Chamber, outline how the chamber has been instrumental in helping companies connect with government entities during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, as well as act as a conduit for UAE-based firms seeking to collaborate with local and international stakeholders.
Discussing the role of the chamber as a bridge between Dubai’s dynamic private sector and its forward thinking, business-oriented government, Bin Sulaiman outlined how it has been influential in ensuring the continuation of smooth business operations during the COVID-19 outbreak.
“The mandate of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry is to represent the business community. During the pandemic, the business groups and councils have played a very instrumental role in raising challenges and coming up with recommendations to the relevant government authorities through Dubai Chamber. We deliver value to our members by providing them with an official channel to raise their concerns and recommendations.”
Bin Sulaiman continued that Dubai Chamber’s engagement with the private sector includes a reactive and proactive approach in terms of reviewing existing laws at the request of the government, getting the feedback from the right representatives and the right industries, and sharing recommendations back with the government entities.
Highlighting the important function that Dubai Chamber plays in connecting UAE-based companies with international partners, bin Sulaiman drew attention to the chamber’s B2B business service.
“The business matching service is a boutique B2B matching service offered to Dubai Chamber members by connecting them with visiting business delegations from overseas. What makes the business matching service a unique one is that all participating delegations go through a screening process to ensure that we are matching businesses that have common interests. That’s perhaps the selling edge of our B2B service.”
The “Ask the Expert” series supports Dubai Chamber’s efforts to shed light on key aspects of doing business in Dubai and provide an opportunity for members of the business community to pose their questions to industry experts, while it also leverages social media channels to engage with the private sector and respond to its changing needs.
The series, consisting of short videos, will delve into other topics of interest to businesses in Dubai over the coming months, including CSR and sustainability, investment opportunities, business matching and research.
