Lufthansa launches new connection from Dubai to Munich in response to high demand

0

Starting on 01 October 2021, Lufthansa will be introducing a new connection between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Munich, doubling its capacity on routes to the UAE compared to pre-crisis levels, as a response to an increase in travel demand. The new route will operate three times a week, with LH638 departing Munich on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and LH639 departing Dubai on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The flights will be operated by an Airbus A350-900, which is one of the world’s most environmentally friendly and modern long-haul aircraft. The connection is being launched just in time for the start of the EXPO as millions of people are expected to travel to Dubai from around the world to attend this international event. Furthermore, even during the coronavirus pandemic, the UAE remains a popular destination for many vacationers around the globe.

“After the restart of our Frankfurt-Dubai flights in Summer 2020, we have witnessed a steady return in demand. Dubai has proven to be an attractive and safe destination for tourists and business travellers alike. As the Lufthansa Group, we are not only focusing on rebuilding our previous network but we have also been flexibly adapting our offer to accommodate current trends in travel. As we expect a further increase in demand for flights to Dubai, also driven by the EXPO as the first global post-pandemic event, we are more than happy to announce the introduction of our Dubai-Munich connection,” said Heinrich Lange, Lufthansa Group Senior Director Sales for the Gulf, I.R. Iran, Afghanistan & Pakistan.

The German airline will be offering more than 85,000 additional seats on flights to the UAE during the upcoming winter schedule. This new Lufthansa connection in Dubai will complement the existing daily flights to Frankfurt as well as the daily SWISS flights from Dubai to Zurich in the winter. Munich is an important Lufthansa hub offering a large choice of onward connections. Furthermore, all passengers traveling to Munich will access Europe’s only 5-Star terminal, awarded by Skytrax. On board the Airbus A350-900, passengers will be able to choose from 293 seats in Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy Class. This aircraft not only offers customers a top product on board, it is also very environmentally friendly, efficient and quiet. Thanks to advanced engines, ultramodern materials and an aerodynamic design, it uses 25 per cent less aircraft fuel and produces a noise footprint that is up to 50 percent smaller than that of comparable aircraft types.

Accompanying the announcement of flight introduction, Lufthansa is offering special introductory fares for tickets from Dubai to Munich. Starting now until 14 July 2020, customers can book special round trip fares for this new flight for all travel dates until 24 April 2022. Prices will start at AED 1,825 for Economy Class, AED 2,885 for Premium Economy and AED 8,155 for Business Class and can booked on Lufthansa.com or with all travel agencies.

The additional flight from Munich will also improve the Lufthansa Cargo logistics offer in Dubai. “Dubai maintained a vital role as a logistics hub for the Middle East throughout the crisis with high demand for cargo capacities. This new connection between our cargo hub in Munich and Dubai will provide our logistics partners with additional capacity and more connectivity to keep vital global supply chains running efficiently,” says Jon Norvald Haugen, Lufthansa Cargo Director Sales and Handling, Middle East.

New route starting 01 October 2021 until 24 April 2022 (all times local):

  • LH 638 departure Munich on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays at 10:30 p.m., arrival at Dubai at 06:40 a.m.
  • LH 639 departure Dubai on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays at 8:30 a.m., arrival Munich 12:50 p.m.
