An Indian Seaman Wins US$1 Million in Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire Promotion

An Indian seaman has joined the long list of US$1 million winners when the latest Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire and Finest Surprise draw was held today at Terminal 2 in Dubai International Airport.

Mr. Ganesh Shinde, a 36-year-old Indian national based in Thane, India became the latest US$1 million winner in Millennium Millionaire Series 363 with ticket number 0207, which he purchased online on 16th June.

DDF Finest Surprise Draw for Series 1778 and 461

A regular participant in Dubai Duty Free’s promotion for the past two years, the father of one, Mr. Shinde is currently on vacation while waiting for his deployment in Brazil where he works as a seaman under Seabras Sapura Talent Ltd.

“This is such a great opportunity. I’m very happy and thankful to Dubai Duty Free,” he said.

Mr. Shinde is the 181st Indian national to have won US$1 million since the start of the Millennium Millionaire promotion in 1999. Indian nationals make up the highest number of Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire ticket buyers.

Today’s Millennium Millionaire draw was conducted by Dubai Duty Free’s COO Ramesh Cidambi, EVP – Corporate Services, Salah Tahlak, Sinead El Sibai, SVP – Marketing, Mona Al Ali, SVP – HR, Michael Schmidt, SVP – Retail Support and Zayed Al Shebli, VP – Loss Prevention and Corporate Security.

Following the Millennium Millionaire draw, the Finest Surprise draw was conducted for two luxury vehicles.

Mr. Justin French, a 52-year-old Australian national based in Dubai won a Range Rover Sport HSE Dynamic 5.0 (Silicon Silver) car, with ticket number 0222 in Finest Surprise Series 1778, which he purchased online on 2nd July.

A resident of Dubai for 18 months now, Mr. French is a father of two and works as manager for Shell.

Mr. French who only started buying tickets in Dubai Duty Free’s promotion in April and bought two tickets for Finest Surprise Series 1778 was ecstatic to find out that one of his tickets made him a new owner of a Range Rover.

“I’m speechless and amazed! Thank you so much Dubai Duty Free, now I can replace my old car,” he said.

Lastly, Mr. Rohit Mote, a 30-year-old Nepali national based in Abu Dhabi won a BMW R nineT Scrambler (Black Storm Metallic/Racing Red) motorbike, with ticket number 0575 in Finest Surprise Series 461, which he purchased online on 1st July.

A resident of Abu Dhabi for 10 years, Mr. Mote works for Lulu Hypermarket and bought five tickets to win the motorbike.

“What a pleasant surprise, thank you Dubai Duty Free,,” he said.
