FUJAIRAH: Today marks one month to go until the 2021 Fujairah Squash Grand Prix, which takes place at the Tennis & Country Club Fujairah, with the dates for the tournament being confirmed as July, 23-24, 2021.
The tournament takes place over 2 days of competition. The most recent edition of the tournament took place in March 2021, and resulted in two players from Dubai taking the honors in both the A & B Sections.
Fujairah also launched the first ever squash league on the 19th May 2021, which also include teams from Ajman and RAK. The Fujairah Squash League is held every Wednesday at the TCCF squash courts and will finish on the 28th July 2021.
“Squash has been a consistently popular sport at club level and has the potential to grow significantly over the next few years, with other Emirates showing interest in participating in our tournaments”, said A. Ghafour Behrozian, Chairman of TCCF.
Tournament Director, Jacques Harmse, commented on the impact of the Grand Prix event, “We believe the club player market is increasingly important to the future development of squash, not least as it helps the transition of our junior players into senior competition. It is also a unique and special opportunity for the best players across the UAE to come together to have fun, forge new friendships, and of course compete for the titles.”
Ms. Hania Reggi, Marketing and Sales Manager for TCCF reiterated that “The TCCF is a fabulous venue that promises a truly memorable squash and Fujairah experience on the East Coast.”
Tournament Liaison Officer, Darron Buchner, said: “The 2021 Fujairah Squash Grand Prix would not be possible without the support of the TCCF Management and local club members.”
