Indonesian Consul General Karachi discusses economic recovery 4.0

LARKANA: On July 12, 2021 at the Office of the Larkana Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI), the Indonesian Consul General in Karachi, Dr. June Kuncoro Hadiningrat made a courtesy call to LCCI, as well as gave an explanation regarding the post-Covid-19 Indonesian economic recovery in a meeting with the President and LCCI members.

In his opening remarks, the President of LCCI, Mr. Haji Muhammad Ali Shaikh welcomed the arrival of the Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi to the LCCI, He explained that LCCI is one of the important Chambers in Pakistan, especially related to the export of rice commodities. LCCI hopes that Larkana’s trade relations with a number of cities in Indonesia (mostly on the island of Java) that had existed even before independence, could continue to be improved into a better cooperative relationship in the future.

The Indonesian Consul General in Karachi appreciated the LCCI cooperation that had existed so far and expressed his readiness to continue to facilitate entrepreneurs/LCCI members in developing their trade with Indonesia. The cooperation between the two countries has made a positive contribution to the efforts to recover the Indonesia-Pakistan economy. It was noted that even during the Covid-19 pandemic, trade between the two countries still grew positively from US$2.32 billion (2019) to US$2.58 billion (2020), or up more than 11 percent.

In particular, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the Indonesian Consulate General in Karachi has created a Pakistan – Indonesia Portal (bit.ly/INA-PAK), which can facilitate inquiries of entrepreneurs digitally or based on information technology 4.0 which is more efficient and effective.

On this occasion, the Indonesian Consul General in Karachi said that the “new normal” had made trade fairs switch to virtual exhibitions. One of the virtual exhibitions in the near future that will be held by Organizer Indonesia (www.biznids.com) with support from the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia is the Indonesia Trade, Tourism, Investment Expo on August 2-30, 2021.

At the end of the meeting, the Indonesian Consul General in Karachi and the President of LCCI conveyed their commitment to making the Indonesia Pakistan Portal as one of the right tools in the “new normal” era in a joint effort for the national economic recovery of the two countries after Covid-19.
