The Fujairah Squash Grand Prix 2021 concluded at the Tennis & Country Club Fujairah on Saturday 24 July 2021. After 2 days of skilled squash and great sportsmanship, Sandeep Ramachandran claimed the A Section title for the first time by beating Abdelaziz Amgad Hegazy 3-0 in the final. In the B Section final Eeshan Sawant beat Amin Maklai 3-2 in a highly competitive match. The Grand Prix was privileged to have players of the calibre of Sandeep Ramachandran, with a highest World Ranking of number 153 and number 1 in the UAE, as well as Abdelaziz Hegazy, ranked number 2 in the UAE, displaying their skills.
The event, which was attended by Sheikh Ahmed Bin Hamad Bin Saif AlSarqi and Sheikh Abdullah Bin Hamdan Al Sharqi and various dignitaries, produced squash at the very top level. 40 players from across the UAE competed in two sections, one for advanced players and the second for Intermediate players. Thereby players from all levels of squash were able to compete, and also witness the very best in the UAE exhibit their skills. Spectators were able to watch 64 matches being played on two beautiful glassback courts with safe seating for all.
On this occasion, Mr. Abdul Ghafour Behroozian, Chairman of Tennis & Country Club Fujairah, said: “We are extremely glad with the results of the Grand Prix Squash tournament which happened in Fujairah as players enthusiasm was great and we have once again seen unexpected demand from the audience who expressed their love to attend a professional tournament. “We are proud to host top players who are ranked first and second in the UAE, Sandeep Ramachandran, with the highest World Ranking, and Abdul Aziz, who is ranked second.

The Tennis & Country Club Fujairah (TCCF) once again hosted an extraordinary event, ensuring that Fujairah is becoming the hub of elite squash events in the UAE. Under the supportive guidance of the TCCF management, Ms Hania Reggi – Sales and Marketing Manager, as well as Tournament Director Jacques Harmse, and Liaison officer Darron Buchner, the event received high accolades from the players and spectators.
Various squash coaches from Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah brought their players to attend the event and thereby helped to promote the sport in our young communities. Due to the Covid pandemic, strict safety guidelines were followed throughout the tournament which included PCR tests, wearing of masks off the court at all time, and social distancing.
