KARACHI: Rukhsana Yameen, house-wife, entrepreneur, mother of two beautiful daughters. She set her brand name “Rukhsaar’s Kitchen” focusing on her cooking expertise. According to her she always enlightens this famous quote:
“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”
For most of my life, I’d been making dishes with sauce from a jar or a box of spices and the occasional boxed meal (just add ground beef or chicken!). Sometimes, I threw some homemade spices into the dishes or to the boxed meal.
But, a good chef is always known for his exceptional culinary skills. Also, spurred on by all upcoming chefs’ I befriended, I decided to give cooking a try, which is meant to be real cooking.
Getting more comprehensive skills over real cooking, did different courses, took one-day classes meanwhile keeping a good a control over household chores. Practiced until I had the knife skills to slice, dice, and julienne. I learned that stovetop burners aren’t meant to be set to high heat unless you’re trying to boil something. (Who knew?) I learned that basic salt and pepper make everything delicious. Throw in some well-chosen herbs and spices, and I can elevate the taste of my food to a whole new level and declare my meals delectable.
There, I got to know that Cooking for sure is definitely an art form because there is a lot of subjectivity involved. Cooking does not just depend upon reading a recipe and following directions, a lot of other aspects like temperatures, ingredient interpretation, and mixing techniques, all factors into the dish.
Many years passed on and I made cooking my passion. Discovering new recipes, making my own homemade spices are very helpful for me to add a hint of taste in any dish. I’m now at the stage where I can say “When there’s a Will, there’s a Way” and “YES I CAN DO” I’m very delighted by my own recipes.
