Indian air traffic engineer wins US$1 Million in Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire Promotion

An Indian air traffic engineer based in Dubai was announced as the latest US$1 million winner in the Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire at the draw held today in Concourse C at Dubai International Airport.

Mr. Sabu Alamittath, a 57 year old Indian national based in Dubai became a US$1 million winner in Millennium Millionaire Series 365, with ticket number 4465 which he purchased online on 25th July.

A regular participant in Dubai Duty Free’s promotion for more than five years now, the father of one, Mr. Alamittath works as an air traffic engineer for Dubai Airports.

“This is a big surprise for me! I never dream that this will ever happen. Thank you so much Dubai Duty Free,” he said.

When asked on his initial plan with his win, he said, “It has been a difficult year for all of us, this money will certainly go along away, including to some charities.”

Mr. Alamittath who hails from Bangalore Indian is the 182nd Indian national to have won US$1 million since the start of the Millennium Millionaire promotion in 1999. Indian nationals make up the highest number of Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire ticket buyers.

Today’s Millennium Millionaire draw was conducted by Dubai Duty Free’s Executive Vice Chairman & CEO, Colm McLoughlin, COO Ramesh Cidambi, Sinead El Sibai, SVP – Marketing, Michael Schmidt, SVP – Retail Support and Sharon Beecham, VP – Purchasing.

Following the Millennium Millionaire draw, the Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise draw was conducted for three luxury vehicles.

Mr. Krunal Mithanni, a 36 year old Indian national based in Dubai won a BMW 750Li xDrive M Sport (Black Sapphire Metallic) car, with ticket number 0364 in Finest Surprise Series 1780 which he purchased online on 7th August.

A regular participant in Dubai Duty Free’s promotion for 3 years now, the father of one., Mr. Mithani works as an IT manager for a shipping company.

Mr. Mithani who previously won an Aprilla Dorsoduro 900 (Exciting Dark) motorbike, with ticket number 0807 in Finest Surprise Series 414 in July 2020 was delighted to receive another call from Dubai Duty Free informing him that he won a car this time.

“I’m very grateful for this amazing opportunity to win for a second time, thank you so much Dubai Duty Free.” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Alban Dsouza, a 39 year old Indian national based in Dubai won a BMW R nineT (Black Storm Metallic) motorbike, with ticket number 0966 in Finest Surprise Series 464 which he purchased on 28th July.

A resident of Dubai for 15 years, Mr. Dsouza is a father of two and runs an office equipment business.

“I’ve been participating in your promotion for around four years now and this is the first time that I won! It feels surreal to finally receiving a call from Dubai Duty Free. Thank you so much.” he said.

Lastly, Ms. Jonalyn Era Glovo, a 38 year old Filipino national based in Dubai won an Indian Scout Bobber (Jade Smoke) motorbike, with ticket number 0783 in Finest Surprise Series 465 which she purchased on 1st August at the counter.

A resident of Dubai for 11 years, Ms. Glovo who works as a senior airport services agent for Emirates Airline bought two tickets for Series 465, upon the influence of her fellow colleague and second time motorbike winner Ms. Martha Rosari, who won in January and July this year.

“I’m so happy to finally win something big in my life! Thank you Dubai Duty Free,” she said.
