ENOC Group has achieved 55 million safe man hours on its local and international portfolio of flagship projects with associated high-risk activities involving handling of hazardous substances, from 2018 to 2021.
These projects include the Group’s storage and terminalling assets in Fujairah and Jebel Ali, the refinery expansion in Jebel Ali, as well as pipelines infrastructure and industrial buildings.
ENOC’s milestone was achieved through sustained health, safety and environment (HSE) best practices and a commitment to create a safe and efficient work culture.
His Excellency Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO, ENOC, said: “At ENOC, we are committed to protecting the health and safety of our employees, partners and customers and this milestone is a testament to that. Implementing HSE best practices has been an integral part of our organisational culture. Over the years, our teams have introduced several initiatives to create a safe working environment for all our employees and partners. The pandemic has further underlined the need to be more resilient and to further prioritise health and safety and become a people’s first organisation.”
Some of ENOC’s key projects that contributed to this milestone includes the ENOC Refinery expansion in Jebel Ali, Group’s recent petrochemicals terminals in Farabi, Saudi Arabia; in addition to revamping projects at Dubai and Fujairah terminals and the ongoing construction of a jet fuel pipeline to Al Maktoum International airport, Horizon Terminal’s Distribution Depot and ENOC Warehouse in Jebel Ali Industrial Area among others.
ENOC achieved these results through its commitment and persistent efforts focused to enhance safety culture through regular leadership visibility, safety campaigns, rewards and recognition programmes, HSE awareness trainings, and conducting regular HSE inspections of the project sites. Further, Project Health and Safety performance data and practices are shared with Group’s various segments to collectively enhance performance across the Group.
In an effort to create a safe working culture, a bespoke training curriculum has been developed for various group of employees. The Group has also designed and implemented behaviour-based safety programmes such as “ENOC cares”, ‘STOP-Unsafe-Work’ and ‘Life saving Rules’ programs to enhance safety awareness and compliance.
