PAUL-Boulangeries (Paul-Bakeries) is a French family owned bakery and patisserie since 1889. It brings to the Pakistan the French traditional way of baking and its delicious range of products, all prepared on the premise. PAUL-Boulangeries franchise came into Pakistan during pandemic era and now when pandemic seems to on a decline things are getting for everyone.
Paul Pakistan located in the heart of Shahbaz Commerical, which is fast turning into one of the sought-after locality for high-end eateries and for foodies, offers break-fast, brunch, lunch, hi-tea, supper and dinner. This give customers options to visit Paul at their convenience.
Upon receiving invitation from Taimoor Paracha franchisee/owner of Paul Pakistan along-with 7Chefs team consisting of Chef Jalal Haider (founder) and Chef Faiza Bilal Khan (consultant), we could hardly contain ourselves from thinking about Paul Pakistan again and again. We were very excited.
On reaching Paul Pakistan, we were greeted by their Consultant-Chef Faiza Bilal Khan, who guided us to our designated table. She informed us that; “with its international status, Paul Pakistan is fast becoming a must-visit restaurant among Karachi’s elite eatery-circle. Breakfast is the busiest time here at Paul and our lunch, brunch and hi-tea segments are also doing well”.
Faiza Bilal Khan went on to say that; “Paul Pakistan is a part of an international chain and due to this face we bound by certain restrictions relating to quality & quantity of meals, their ingredients and suppliers. We have to work with approved suppliers/vendors only. We are audited every six month by audit team from PAUL-Boulangeries and due to that we have to adhere to their strict guidelines round the clock.”
She further added by saying that; “Currently Paul Pakistan can cater upto 40 clients and for deliveries, we use local delivery channels.”
After a short chat with Faiza, we were ready for our breakfast and for starter we were served with a Viennoiseries (Pastries) Platter, which had an exciting looking assortment of Viennoiseries ranging from mini-croissant, Pan au Chocolat (chocolate-croissant), Danish Cookie and Oatmeal Black Currant Cookie. Chef Faiza Bilal informed us that; “all confectionary items here at Paul are prepared from imported flour and butter coming from list of vendors approved by Paul-Boulangeries (Paul-Bakeries) France”.
For main course of our breakfast we ordered ‘Egg Benedict with smoked salmon’, ‘Egg Benedict with Turkey Ham’ and ‘Egg with Beef Steak’. My experience with Egg Benedict turned out to vastly different from the one that I had previously. Last time when I had Egg Benedict it had some sauces and mashed-potatoes with very fresh looking green-veggies. Here at Paul, we were served Egg Benedict with potato-wedges, baked-tomato and not so fresh looking green veggies.
For ‘Steak & Eggs’ beef was over-done and needed some extra mouth work, something that I hadn’t wished for. Potato-wedges didn’t compliment well, mashed-potatoes could have done better here.
On Taimoor Paracha’s recommendation we ordered ‘French Toast’ and ‘Apple Stuffed French Toast’. Served with maple-syrup, fresh-cream and apple-jam, both toasts them lived upto their recommendations. Their texture was extremely soft and had creamy touch to it. Tasted heavenly. In the end Black Tea was spot on too.
On concluding note, I would say that for an international chain like Paul, prices were quite reasonable and overall ambiance was well lit and seemed like full of life. I would highly recommend this for break-fast lovers and I am anxiously waiting to see more Paul’s here in Karachi.
