Tourism Malaysia, the promotion board under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture Malaysia, is participating once again in the Arabian Travel Market with the country’s tourism trade players to promote Malaysia to the Middle Eastern market through the latest attractions and destinations for shopping, family fun, eco-adventure, honeymoon, luxury holidays, as well as a safe travel destination.

The prestigious annual event is once again held at Dubai World Trade Centre, from 9th to 12th May. This year, the Malaysian delegation is led by The Honourable Minister Dato’ Sri Hajah Nancy Shukri, Minister of Tourism, Arts & Culture Malaysia. The delegation consists of 64 Malaysian sellers from 32 organisations participating under the Malaysia Pavilion to meet the buyers from the Middle East.

The Malaysian delegation is comprised of a good mix of hotels and resorts, travel agents, tourism product owners, and representatives from state tourism boards. During the 4-day event, they will be highlighting their respective tourism products and services that cater specially for the Middle Eastern market.

The mission aims to reinstate and enhance the commitment to establishing good tourism cooperation, engaging in future collaborations, and cooperation with the travel & tourism industry in the region. “We will continue to place strong emphasis and focus on the Middle Eastern market in terms of outbound tourism. Hence, we will be stepping up our promotional efforts here,” said Dato’ Sri Nancy during the launch.

Throughout the event, Dato’ Sri Nancy is scheduled to meet up with the top management of a few Middle Eastern airlines such as Qatar Airways, Emirates, Etihad Airways, and Oman Air to discuss future collaborations, besides having several interviews with the local media. On 10th May, Dato’ Sri Nancy will witness the signing of the Memorandum of Collaboration (MOC) between Tourism Malaysia and Emirates at the Emirates Pavilion.

This MOC will benefit the Malaysian economy and strengthen economic ties through the tourism industry between Malaysia and the United Arab Emirates. Following that, Dato’ Sri Nancy will be hosting a gala dinner on 11th May to thank the tourism fraternity in Dubai and the local media for their support and assistance in promoting Malaysia.

Malaysia has reopened its borders to international tourists starting 1st April 2022. Commenting on the reopening, Dato’ Sri Nancy said, “It is indeed a huge relief for the tourism industry as we welcome more international tourists, newcomers and regulars alike, to further boost our economy. Therefore, we hope for a strong rebound in our market as the border reopening will open doors for the tourism revival to bolster recovery. We are targeting to attract 2 million international tourist arrivals this year with more than RM8.6 billion (AED7.5 billion) in tourism receipts.”
