Careem, the region’s leading multi-service platform, has partnered with RTA (Roads and Transports Authority), Dubai Police, and Dubai Municipality to launch a new initiative for “World Environment Day” that will take place on Saturday, June 4th, 2022.
As part of its overarching vision to spread awareness on environmental issues and promote more sustainable means of transportation, customers will be able to ride Careem’s eco-friendly electric pedal-assisted bikes for free between 7:00 pm and 9:30 pm. They will also be provided with free helmets on a first come first serve basis at the Jumeirah Public Beach Careem BIKE station.
In line with UAE’s Vision 2021, Dubai has reaffirmed its mission to making Dubai a more sustainable city through a number of initiatives, one of which was building a network of cycling tracks around the city to reduce carbon emissions and encourage bicycle use as a primary means of transportation, which could save an estimated 6 to 14 million tonnes of C02. Careem BIKE plays a critical role in this vision, with 147 bike stations currently located around the city and plans for 29 additional stations by July 2022. As of now, customers have made over 2 million trips and covered around 10M km across Dubai through Careem BIKE.
Careem continuously implements CSR campaigns in the region and has donated over $3 million towards social impact in the last 3 years. They recently announced a new Donations service on their Super App, where customers can donate to charitable causes through Careem’s partnership with prominent organizations like UNHCR, UNICEF, World Food Programme (WFP), and Dubai Cares.
To participate in World Environment Day with a free Careem bike ride, open or download the Careem BIKE app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, and subscribe to the World Environment Day plan (0 AED), which will be accessible on Saturday, June 4th, 2022 from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm.
