Goethe-Intitut Pakistan is the cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany in Pakistan and the institute is actively involved in international cultural exchange between Europe and Pakistan. The institute has been located in a beautiful pre-partition Bungalow in Civil Lines in Karachi and it is very nostalgic and tragic to see it moving from this location to a new one.
On the weekend of 25th & 26th June 2022, they bid a farewell to the space by doing a two- day event open to public and their loyal patrons.
The event started with Film screening of ‘A House in Berlin’ followed by an artistic choreography piece, and DJ night with Tollcrane and DJ Faiqa, making everyone groove one last time.
The second day also started with a film screening of ‘Mies on Scene’ & ‘Khandar’, an Indian film by Mrinal Sen, which followed by a talk on the current architectural scene of the city ‘Vertical vs Horizontal’ having Prof. Sophie Wolfrum from Germany, Kumail Ali Shareef and Arcitect Arif Belgaumi as panelists, moderated by the architect and social activist, Marvi Mazhar. The second day ended with the dance performance ‘Lost in Translocation’.
The institute is moving in the premises of Alliance Francaise de Karachi temporarily.
