Ananad Rajagopal wins the 24th Dubai Duty Free Seniors Cup

The rolling fairways of the Fire Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates played host to the 24th annual Dubai Duty Free Seniors Cup on Saturday, 22nd October. On what was a beautiful afternoon, with the temperatures cooling and the course in great shape, 40 players took to the field to vie for the Dubai Duty Free Seniors Cup title.

The coveted title ultimately went to Anand Rajagopal with a scintillating 44 points, recording a personal best gross score of 76 shots. After the champion was crowned, it was on to the gross division, where in-form Club Captain Steve Drake fired a gross 72 to beat Gavin Ritchie on a better inward half. 

Commenting on the tournament, Dubai Duty Free’s Executive Vice Chairman & CEO, Colm McLoughlin said: “We are delighted to host this event for the 24th year and I would like to congratulate all the winners. Thanks to the team at Jumeirah Golf Estates for ensuring a well-organised event and I am glad that everyone enjoyed the hospitality.”

In the 50+ Seniors Category, the ladies’ titles went to Yulia Golubeva, who recorded a strong round of 35 points, with Tauseef Khan firing a 43 point round to secure the Senior Gent’s Category for the year. Recognition also goes to Roma Khanna and Gavin Ritchie, who both came runner-up in the Senior Categories with rounds of 32 and 42 points respectively.

In the 65+ Super Seniors Category, the ladies’ victory went to Rosine Natali, and the gents’ victory was clinched by Eamon Foley on his travels from Ireland to the UAE.

The winner of the ladies’ nearest to the pin on hole fourteen was won by Yulia Golubeva, and Amanda Williams won the ladies’ longest drive on hole seven. In the Gents contest, Eamon Foley won the nearest to the pin on hole eight and David Haswell won the longest drive on hole eighteen.
